Jaipur rewards travellers who look beyond a sequence of palaces. Amer Fort explains the older hill capital; City Palace and Jantar Mantar reveal the planned city; the bazaars show the craft and commercial systems that still animate it.
The choice of hotel changes the experience. A palace retreat outside the centre can create calm and ceremony. A well-located city hotel makes markets, restaurants and early starts easier. Neither is automatically better.

Begin at Amer before the heat and crowds build, then move into the city for Jantar Mantar, City Palace and Hawa Mahal. Market time is more rewarding when it is edited around genuine interests.
Where to stay
Choose between city access, a heritage haveli and a palace-style retreat. The correct decision depends on whether the hotel is a base for exploration or a central part of the journey.

Plan the movement as carefully as the stay.
Jaipur connects naturally with Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, Jodhpur and Udaipur. Road times vary with traffic and stops. Adding Abhaneri or Fatehpur Sikri is valuable only when the day remains humane.
